Flight for Malik – 11-04-2017

October 18, 2017 - 2 minutes read

Referrals for Ministry will be performing our next Angel Flight Mission on Saturday November 4, 2017. We will be transporting Malik Sims age and his Dad Oliver Sims from Las Vegas, Nevada to Santa Monica, California. Malik is traveling from his family home in Los Angeles to obtain specialized medical treatment at Children’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado.

Malik is affected with Hirchsprungs Disease. Children who have Hirschsprung’s disease are prone to a serious intestinal infection called enterocolitis. Enterocolitis can be life-threatening. It’s treated in the hospital with colon cleaning and antibiotics. Referrals for Ministry will provide their flight home from Las Vegas after their flight from Denver to Las Vegas is provided by another Angel Flight pilot.

Family’s Prayer Request

Malik’s Mother Miriam asks for prayer that the doctors will determine Malik is a candidate for surgery which will allow him to get rid of his Ileostomy enabling him to begin a normal life through a bowel management program. The Bowel Management Program is a one-week outpatient program for children who are unable to anticipate or control their bowel activity. Each year, approximately 250 children from all over the world participate in this intensive program, and many of them are in normal underwear by the end of the week! By maintaining bowel management after the program ends, these patients can avoid bowel accidents, permanent colostomy and dependence on diapers. The improvement in self-esteem and quality of life is often remarkable.

Our Ministry Prayer

“Father God we lift up the Sim’s family to you in believing prayer asking that you provide your healing touch on Malik. Bless him and his family with good news that he may participate in the bowel management program. Envelope them in your comforting presence as they walk through this trial. Bless them with your peace knowing that you have them in the palms of your hands. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
